ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ and Spring Hill Announce Cross-Registration Collaboration

University of South Alabama students will soon be able to enroll for courses offered at Spring Hill College. And Spring Hill students could, likewise, sign up for classes taught at South.
This new partnership, called βcross-registration,β will take effect in January 2017 with the beginning of each institutionβs spring semester. It will allow full-time, undergraduate students at each school to enroll in college credit courses at the other institution for the fall and spring semesters, while paying tuition at their home institution.
βCross-registration between South Alabama and Spring Hill will further enhance the opportunities for students at both institutions to broaden their college education,β said Dr. Tony Waldrop, University of South Alabama president. βWe are excited at the possibilities this holds for our institutions, the community and, especially, the students.β
βThis partnership provides our students with additional, attractive options to enrich their education,β said Dr. Christopher Puto, Spring Hill College president. βThe benefits for students at both institutions are significant, and we look forward to collaborating with ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ in this endeavor.β
Most undergraduate courses at both institutions will be available for cross-registration, on a space-available basis. Cross-registration courses will include those delivered as traditional classroom courses, fully online courses and blended courses. For more information, students will be encouraged to talk with their faculty advisers.
βOne valuable benefit of this collaboration is that students who need a specific course to continue their path to timely graduation now have an additional option,β said Dr. George Sims, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Spring Hill. βWe encourage students to consider these options and plan their schedules with an adviserβs guidance.β
βStudents now have access to additional highly qualified faculty members who can supplement the excellent faculty who teach on their home campus,β said Dr. David Johnson, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½. βThey will have access to courses that may not otherwise be available to them, and we anticipate that ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ and Spring Hill students will get to know one another, expanding their peer networks and making new friends.β
